Summary of My Political Cartoon
I got the idea for this cartoon in a surreal way. My father sent me the Guardian article with a snappy comment, and I just ran with that idea of his..I hope it was his idea.. It was so surreal drawing this , because one thought led to another, and suddenly, it all clicked into place. I don’t know if anyone can truly appreciate how my mind works, but that’s how it happens. The absurdity of the situation, the historical parallels, how funny it would be if he tried this in another era..and the way the cards played outyes, it all came together in a way that felt almost too on the nose. I was hoping it was not too old news. But I noticed the story is still current.
He looks like the Judge in Brazil. The evil looking Supreme Court one with the long black cape. In my cartoon I gave Jeb Bat wings. The Black robe of the judge. It is like a Bat. The tradition of judges wearing black robes in the United States, and particularly in the federal system, is rooted in a period of mourning following the death of Queen Mary II in 1694. Again. It is weird. Right? They look like Vampires. From the 1600s. He has those eyes. He looks, evil. Right? It is like the movie THE OMEN.
